Wendy Williams Hospitalized for "Psychiatric Observation"
Wendy Williams is further delaying her show return after being diagnosed with COVID-19. The Instagram account of “The Wendy Williams Show” announced on Wednesday that the daytime host, 57, is battling a “breakthrough case of COVID-19.” (TRANSLATION: Wendy Williams got Covid even after being vaccinated). “While continuing her health evaluations, Wendy has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19,” the statement began. “To allow Wendy time to quarantine and fully recover and to ensure that our production abides by all SAG/AFTRA and DGA Covid protocols, we expect to begin the 13th season of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ on Monday, October 4th.”. The announcement comes after Williams had to bow out of promotional activities because of “ongoing health issues” that required “further evaluations.”.
In a conversation with frequent guest, Dr. Oz, back in March, Williams expressed hesitancy about getting the COVID-19 jab. “No. I don’t trust it,” she said. “I’ve never gotten the flu shot either, though, and you and I have talked about that. Several of the doctors on my team have told me, ‘Wendy, get the flu shot.’ I’ve never had the flu. I’m not getting a flu shot. I very rarely get a cold. I never have headaches. The Sun is reporting that Wendy Williams was taken to the hospital earlier this week for a mental health check A spokesperson for the NYPD told Page Six on Thursday that they received a call at 8:43 a.m. on Tuesday requiring an ambulance to transport a 57-year-old woman residing at Williams’ Manhattan address for a psychiatric evaluation. The patient was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, the spokesperson told us. The Sun claimed the unidentified woman was Williams; a rep for Williams didn’t return Page Six’s request for comment.
Williams previously has discussed several health issues on her daytime series, including her battle with Graves’ Disease and substance abuse, the latter of which landed her in rehab and a sober-living facility in 2019.
