I have always had mixed feelings about this one. First of all, I was surprised to read that the last (dismal) season of Vanderpump Rules actually concluded on June 16, 2020, so it has only been a little over a year.
There have been a few good seasons with some interesting story lines, but very early on, it started feeling very scripted (and badly acted) by this cast of L.A. actor/model wannabes. I find it ironic that LVP herself is actually the fly in buttermilk on her own show. First of all, she always seems put off by even being there. Secondly, I just never bought her phony involvement into these (now grown) adult’s personal lives. Thirdly, how many more years are they going to pretend that any of these people are still working for the Todds?
But more than all that, I’m really put off by the rash of cancel culture firings, and almost feel like I would be selling my soul by even watching, but I guess it is what it is. Also, it will be interesting to see if VPR can still draw an audience. I kind of suspect people will tune in, at least for a few weeks. God knows LVP needs another hit, and fast. Check out the trailer below.
