Could Dorit Kemsley’s Break In Be a Publicity Stunt?

I feel so dirty even writing this, and most of me believes Dorit's tale of horror, but now that the dust has settled (and a respectable amount of time has passed) several unanswered questions are giving some fans pause, including myself. So let’s break this down.

On the night of October 27 at around 10:50 pm, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and fashion designer, Dorit Kemsley, reported a terrifying home invasion/burglary while she and her two young children were home. Three black men made off with over $1 million dollars in fashion accessories, jewelry, and cash. Dorit said that she was awakened by two of the men standing at the foot of her bed, and claims that one of the intruders threatened to kill her as she pleaded for her and her children’s lives. The ordeal lasted for only 20 minutes, and thankfully, no one was hurt.

To be fair, there is always going to be a certain amount of skepticism with stories pertaining to reality stars, and especially when it comes to the “real housewives”, and for good reason. Ever since Dorit, 45, and British businessman husband, Paul Kemsley 53, joined the show there have been questions about their finances, questionable business practices, and subsequent lawsuits.

                                              DEVASTATING DEBT

Combined, the married couple owe a whopping $1,308,803.09 in unpaid taxes. According to a 2018 tax document, the Kemsleys have an outstanding balance of $635,887.23. Dorit also has an individual tax lien from the State of California for the amount of $90,269.46 which was most recently dated in March 2021. In addition, PK has two solo active liens of his own - including one for the a State of California for $293,222.73 from back in 2015. He also still owes $289,423.67 for a federal lien, recently dated October 2018. News organizations have confirmed with the state and federal tax clerks that all four liens remain unpaid.

                                       HISTORY OF MONEY PROBLEMS

For the last two seasons, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has documented Dorit, PK and their two kids’ move into the family property, which the star bought by herself after her husband’s history of lawsuits and bankruptcy. In 2012, Paul, 53, filed for bankruptcy, claiming his debt exceeded $50 MILLION after making a series of investments in the tech, music and sports worlds. In August 2018, Dorit and PK were sued by their former business partner, Ryan Dorne, for allegedly owing him $205,000 for his work on her Beverly Beach swimsuit line. A judge ordered Dorit and Ryan to mediation in January 2019 and they settled outside of court. In February 2019, PK was accused of owing $75,000 in gambling debt to a sports betting company in the UK however, a judge dismissed the lawsuit two months later.

                                               LAWSUIT AFTER LAWSUIT

Just three months later, the couple came under fire once again after a man named Nicos Kirzis alleged that he loaned PK $1.2 million, but only was paid back $250,000. In the midst of their legal battle with Nicos, a judge froze both Dorit and PK’s bank accounts in July 2019; however, Nicos later dropped the suit in October 2019. In a June 2019 episode of RHOBH, alum Camille Grammer shockingly accused Dorit’s husband of owing “a LOT of money” to someone “very close” to her.

                                                   QUESTIONABLE TIMING

1) Just a few hours earlier, on the evening of October 27, part three of the RHOBH Reunion had just aired. The topic of Dorit’s penchant for extremely expensive designer goods, including specific details of ownership and their value were discussed. Also discussed on the reunion was costar, friend, and neighbor, Kyle Richard’s, own 2019 break-in (where millions of dollars in fashion accessories and jewelry were taken), as well as Lisa Rinna’s expensive collection of vintage couture’, which Andy Cohen worried might not be “safely” stored. Speaking of (Executive Producer) Andy Cohen; his reaction to the ordeal seemed to be very reserved to me, to say the least. He really hasn’t even commented at all; not on WWHL, or on his SIRIUS ((XM)) radio show. Instead, he has simply tweeted a garden variety, “Thankfully, Dorit and her family are safe”.

2) For weeks leading up to the incident, it was widely reported that Dorit's standing on the show was in jeopardy, for lack of story line. Insiders speculated that she would either be demoted, or let go entirely.

3) Surviving the cut, but reportedly “put on notice”, Dorit was to begin filming season 12 (at home) on the very next morning following the incident.

4) PK was conveniently? away when the incident occurred.

5) Why would the alarm be off (especially with PK being gone)?

6) Dorit didn't hear a full length glass door explosion when the intruders smashed the glass?

7) L/A. Police Department reported that Dorit never actually saw a gun. Dare I say, Dorit does have a flair for the dramatic, and a well documented history of embellishing and/or exaggerating a story.

8) The children weren't awakened during the actual break in, presumably hysterical mother, and/or chaotic 20 minute ransacking of their home?

Also, the new season has just started filming, and fans of the show know that RHOBH is particularly well known for it’s single story line seasons (that many fans feel they beat to death, whether it be the “Apple Juice Lucy Goosy Dog” drama over Dorit allegedly "dumping" a dog adopted from former costar Lisa Vanderpump's dog rescue, Denise Richards’ alleged lesbian affair with Brandi Glanville, or the most recent Tom and Erika Girardi’s embezzlement allegations that monopolized the entire season 11.  So it’s easy to see this incident becoming the next main story line.

The Season 12 premier is already playing in my head.  The episode will begin with the proverbial flashback; a local news report broadcast and then we will get raw footage of police cars arriving at the Kemsley's home. We will see Kyle, Lisa, Erika, and Teddi rushing to Dorit’s side to comfort her. Someone (probably Garcelle and Det. Stracke) is going to doubt the authenticity of this situation, hence becoming THE story line of the season.

Let me emphasize again that all of these things could be entirely unrelated coincidence(s), and because I like Dorit, I really don't want to believe that she would be capable of orchestrating such an elaborate publicity stunt/scheme, because if she has, the world may as well brace themselves for another Jussie Smollett situation, especially considering L.A. PD's involvement.
