Housewives for Hire

Between her jewelry company, anti-aging skincare collection and Pinot Grigio line, Ramona Singer wears many hats when it comes to business, and now she’s adding another title to the mix: real estate agent. The Real Housewives of New York star, 64, will be joining Douglas Elliman (and former RNONY co-star Kelly Bensimon) as a real estate broker on the team of broker Michael Lorber. Douglas Elliman is one of the biggest real estate companies in the country, and many of their employees have become household names.Several of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing stars have worked out of their Los Angeles and New York offices. While RHONY has paused filming due to the coronavirus pandemic, Singer has been splitting her time between her apartment in Manhattan and her home in Southampton, New York, spending time with her daughter Avery, 25, and their dog, Coco.

Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville, 48, is entering the real estate industry as well. "I actually just finished my real estate courses," she recently told Entertainment Tonight . "I was just so bored during Covid. I did not know what to do with myself, and I was getting depressed because I felt like I was doing nothing. So I just thought, I'm a very honest person. Maybe people would want to buy houses from me because I'm honest?"

Becoming a real estate agent could open more reality TV doors for the star, though she's not sure she’d want to go down that route. When asked about potentially joining Netflix's ITAL Selling Sunset, Brandi says she doesn’t want to have to fight with friend Christine Quinn. "I adore her, and I don't think she needs me tagging along. She's doing pretty well herself."

As a real estate agent myself, I know that branding and contacts (who you know) is key, so anyone with name recognition, let alone celebrity status is halfway there. But the Real Estate industry is cut throat, and ultimately, results are what count.

Just going by their TV personas, Ramona seems like a natural to me, but I don’t think Barbara Corcoran has anything to worry about just yet. There are only 24 hours in a day, and between Singer’s other businesses and doing the RHONY, I really don’t know where she is going to find the time.

Brandi, on the other hand, admittedly has nothing but time on her hands; however, I would question her having the dedication and discipline that is required. The biggest mistake newbie agents make is thinking that clients are going to just fall into their laps, or that someone is going to hold their hand, but the truth is it’s “every man for himself”. Most new agents are lucky if they get any training at all. This is why more than half never make it to their second year.
