Ramona Singer: ‘The New Season is Much More Intense’

Season 13 of Real Housewives of New York City returns tonight and will feature five cast members, Ramona Singer, 64, Luann de Lesseps, 55, Sonja Morgan, 57, Leah McSweeney, 38, and random newbie Eboni K. Williams, “37”. Gone is Dorinda Medley (thankfully) and Tinsley Mortimer (who?).

The ladies had the great misfortune of filming the during the pandemic, in especially hit hard NYC no less, but Ramona told Entertainment Tonight that they got more episodes during the pandemic than they did during “normal times”.  Little does Ramona know that these may very well be the new normal times. “I’m really proud of season 13, and I think the viewers will be very happy with it,” Ramona said. “It’s more intense than normal, because we’re filming the five of us all the time without a lot of interaction with other people, so we really had to relate, and it was just very different.”.

In her promotional interview for the new season, Ramona took the opportunity to throw some shade at her former co-stars, one Dorinda and longtime frenemy Bethenny Frankel. “When a cast member leaves, somehow we just pick up where it was left off and don’t really notice that they’re gone,” Ramona said. “We’re all just like, cog in the wheel and … or a spoke in the wheel, and if one goes, the wheel keeps going. So it was fine.”. That's our Ramona, always the wordsmith.

Ramona admitted during the interview that she and Dorinda do not currently have any kind of relationship.  I'm shocked! (said no one ever). Bravo fired Dorinda after season 12, and some have claimed that Ramona was to blame, but I have to think that Slurinda's "turkey baster" comment to Tinsley had to have ruffled boss Andy's rainbow colored plumes, considering that Baby Ben was obviously conceived by the same means.

The reigning OG of RHONY also took a shot at Bethenny Frankel. She believes that the SkinnyGirl mogul’s recent engagement announcement was “very calculated because she made her wedding announcement on the same day that the RHONY season 13 trailer dropped. “Of course she did it on purpose!” Ramona said. “Come on, you know Bethenny very well.”. A bit of a stretch there Moans.

I will be tuning in for tonight’s premier, but with great trepidation. I really hated last season, and quit watching at midpoint when they inexplicably put RHONY (and RHOBH) on hiatus for several weeks.  However, there is a limit to my loyalty.
