Melissa and Joe Renegotiate Their Marriage

Following a long overdue mammogram, Dolores is having a biopsy. Although these breast cancer-scare story lines are played out, presenting the importance of mammograms (early detection), is probably the “Real Housewives” only positive message.  Can anyone name another?  Dolores’ mom advises her daughter to include TV boyfriend Dr. David on this journey, but ex-husband Frank is becoming more vocal in his not-so-flattering opinions of David.

Speaking of played out story lines, Teresa is hosting a girl’s night at the McMansion with “psychic Gina Marie” (these women know they’re Catholic right?). As usual, the women are in tears as Gina Googled contacts various dead people (and dogs) in each of the lady’s lives. Gina not only manages to tap into all the ladies issues, but they just happened to be current story lines as well! Gosh, what are the odds of that? With a little help from Gina, in one of her talking heads, Melissa blurts out that Teresa does indeed have a boyfriend!

Joe and Melissa are having a date night, and the (hard to swallow) story line that their marriage is in trouble continues. Melissa explains to Joe that while she has loved being a dutiful wife and mother, it’s now HER turn, and she plans on making up for lost time. Joe knows he has no other choice but to accept it, and tells Melissa that he doesn’t ever want to lose her. No dummy, that one.

Speaking of marriage problems, Jennifer’s elderly parents are still fighting like two wild turkeys (sorry, couldn’t resist). Jen and Dr. Bill are trying to mediate, but neither parent is budging. Jen’s mom clearly despises her husband, and the feeling seems to be mutual. She blurts out that NEVER wanted to marry this man, but it was apparently too late to back out, and back then, 16 year old Turkish girls just accepted “arranged marriages”. Jen’s mom tearfully proclaims that he was NEVER there, and he screams “Liar!”. Jennifer tells her mom that while she acknowledges her dad wasn’t always around, she only has fond memories. At this point, Jen’s mom is calling it “emotional abuse”, but I won’t be surprised if it turns out there is more. As a viewer, I am surprised at how invested I am in this story line.

This is yet another excellent season for The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and if the previews are any indication, there is still a LOT more to come! RHONJ airs Wednesdays at 8:00pm CST on Bravo.
