Silence is Golden

After a tough negotation with her 5 year old daughter, Pheonix, Dorit has been allotted a five minute slot in her day to face time with Kyle who is in Georgia filming Halloween (never) Ends.  Dorit fills Kyle in on the going ons at Crystal's party; mainly the fact that drama queen Rinna was still so rattled by Kathy's deplorable behavior that she had ro leave the party.  This starts the conversation about Kathy which then dominates the episode.  Kyle is being very cryptic with her words, only adding that she is well aware that most of Kathy's rant was aimed at her, but she doesn't want to know the specifics.  Yeah right!  But just as she did with Kim for all those years, Kyle is taking the high road so as not to hurt Kathy.  Insert hysterical laughter here.

Meanwhile, Erika is face timing with her therapist.and crying about what used to be.  She wants us to know that while it may be an unpopular opinion, she too was harmed.  She tells us that she misses Tom's big blue eyes, the companionship, and his generosity, cue the atchive footage of Tom gifting Erika with that Cartier panther ring.worth a cool $65K.  However. Erika is quick to point out that "Tom could also be a mean motherfucker".  As far as his legal matters go, she's choosing to believe that he was used to doing things a certain way, and "it just got away from him".

Erika is throwing a Pretty Mess Hair pop up party for the ladies and their stylists gays.  Everyone has been invited, but Kyle is still in Georgia, Garcelle has a Real job,  and Kathy is a no show who didn't even have the decency to RSVP. that she wasn't coming.  As the gays all stand around stuffing their faces with Costco hors d'oeuvres while being largely ignored, the topic of Kathy's meltdown in Aspen is dispersed into various conversations, beginning with Erika who is discussing the recent headlines with an invited entertainment reporter.  Kunty reports that things are indeed not all "hunky dory" with Kathy these days.  Meanwhile  Dorit and a still rattled Rinna are huddled together talking about Kathy. Dorit says that Kathy actually called her, and is very remorseful, adding that it's really all about Kathy and Kyle.  But Lisa is unphased and says that Kathy is trying to silence her.  They then decide to take the conversation to the other ladies.

It's apparent from the get go that a pile up (on Kathy) is developing.  Dorit begins to chronicle the chain of events for the ladies which apparently started in the Carabou Club in Aspen.  Crystal says that Kathy requested that the DJ play "Billie Jean", but he refused, and that was what set her off.  Woke Crystal then tells us that she's she not surprised that these stupid old White women don't know that playing Michael Jackson music is "problematic these days".  If that's being woke, I'm choosing to stay asleep.  Diana then chimes in and schools the ladies (and us) on nightclub protocol.  The clubs are all about making money.  You tip to get a table, tip to keep the drinks flowing, and most certainly tip the DJ to get your song played. Then we have Lisa, sitting there in her bad wig and rented Tom Ford, telling the ladies that her lips are sealed. This, from the woman who started Munchausen’s rumor about Yolanda,, claimed that Kim Richards was close to death, and then brought a friend on to the show just to out her as a closet lesbian.

Silent Sheree tells everyone that at the Kyle's Kemo Sabe hat party in Aspen, Kathy was already long pissed off, and then Rinna connects all of the dots, speculating that it was SHE who set Kathy off because she asked for Kennell Jenner's tequila instead of Kathy's. As we've seen to ad nauseam, that really did hit a nerve with Kathy, but Lisa wants us to believe that Kathy has always been insanely jealous of the Kartrashians.  In fact, according to Rinna, Kathy thinks the K's ower their billions to her, because SHE came up with the idea of peddling her eldest daughter's sex tape first!  This is what annoys me about Rinna; the queen of "own it baby!" doesn't want to own the fact that she set Kathy up, and dare I say thrilled that this happening to her, and an evil Republican at that.  But instead, she says “I’m sending Kathy prayers and blessings because she needs them”.

As promised on the plane ride home from Aspen, Sutton has Erika over for lunch.  Sutton reminds Erika that they are both Southerners by serving up some  Popeye's Fried Chicken (on Gucci china), and sweet tay.  Becaise Erika is driving, she passes on the Dom Perignon.  Take that Garcelle!  It's a rather awkward lunch, as Sutton tells Erika that she needs to soften her edges.  Erika agrees, but explains that she tends to go apeshit on people when she feels like she isn't being heard.  Sutton then tells Erika that she also needs to show just a smidge of compassion, and Erika responds, "I could use a little (compassion) too".

We finally get to Kyle and Kathy (and Rinna's) big confrontation scene which consumes the entire last half hour of the episode.  Kyle has wrapped filming in GA, and returned to Beverly Hills Encino where Kathy shows up, playing the crazy aunt decked out in a granny skirt straight out of the 1970's, Pilgrim boots, and wearing the same T-shirt which she wore in Apsen.  For added effect, she picks some flowers out of Kyle's front porch planters, and hands them to Kyle as a peace offering; however, she should have just worn them in her hair, especially after the luke warm response she got from Kyle.  Sidenote: As I mentioned last week, I believe this is what drives Rinna and the rest of the women nuts; while they spend all this money on a wardrobe and glam teams, Kathy just shows up wearing any ol' thing (often twice) ... and SHE becomes the "fan favorite"!  But I digress; Kathy is there on a mission; to ask Kyle for forgiveness and to hopefully nip this situation in the bud.

What transpires next surprises the hell out of me.  Two real life sisters with real issues, having probably the most real conversation that either of them has ever had (certainly on television).  It's a conversation about betrayal, resentment, loyalty, and the lack there of.  Kathy starts off remorseful, but  you get a sense that she really just wants to put an end to the embarrassment, and fast.  But Kyle isn't letting her off the hook quite so sily and says,  “But how could you say those things about me?”  At this point mind you, we still don't even know exactly what nasty things Kathy suppposedly said to Rinna.  Kathy responds, “Kyle ... Kyle ....”, using the same tone that she did a few episodes ago when she scolded Kyle for her cursing.

These sisters clearly have issues.  Kathy hates that she can never get hold of Kyle, and Kyle hates that when she does, she feels like all Kathy does is rants about HER life.  Kathy wants more time with just the two of them, but Kyle says that she works her ass off, and is too busy with her own family.  On a personal note, I can sooo relate to this situation, because as a brother with no family of my own (other than a partner and two fur babies), I have often felt neglected by my siblings who are always too busy with their own families. I could really relate to Kyle when she said that the situation is exacerbated when you lose both parents.

But eventually they call a truce of sorts, and Kathy tells Kyle that she's proud of her.  Of course this is a far cry from the picture that Rinna painted; that Kathy is consumed with jealousy, and still resents that her Mexican brother-in-law stole her husband, Rick Hilton's, Goddamn real estate company.  Just as I realize there are still 15 minutes left in the episode, Kyle tells Kathy that Rinna is coming over, and asks if she wants to stick around.  Perhaps not surprisingly, Kathy agree to stay and confront RInna, undoubtedly figuring she may as well take care of both of these bitches in one sitting.  Kyle is glad that Kathy is staying, but at the same time fearful of what might happen.

Lisa saunters in, and you can tell she's ready to rumble.  She's immediately triggered because Kathy is wearing the same T-shirt that she wore on that fateful night. Kathy immediately begins apologizing to Lisa, saying that it was insensitive to unload on her during Lisa's time of grief, and admits to saying some very hurtful things yadda yadda.  But just as Kyle suspected, Rinna is not there to make up; she's there to berate Kathy.  The more Kathy apologizes, the more Dr. Rinna wants to get to the bottom of why she had a "psychotic breakdown".  Meanwhile, Kyle sits there. enjoyiing watching Kathy squirm just a little, as Dr. Lisa surmises that Kathy "needs help" (talk about the pot calling the kettle black).  Kathy continues to apologize, but Rinna says that she first needs to have Kathy acknowledge the deep dark anger that festers within her evil Republican women.

Finally becoming flustered, Kathy says "Lisa you can be very cruel too".  Lisa responds, "Ah ... so we're going to go there".  The producers then run a series of iconic "Rinna moments", including telling Kim that she's going to fuck her up, and of course the wine glass smashing in Amsterdam.  "But we're not talking about me", Lisa responds.  Kathy knows she's licked, but tries one last tactic by revealing that she has a friend who is dying of cancer. Oh Kathy, you almost had me.

It doesn't work on Lisa either.  “I’m sorry Kathy, but you’re not going to get away with it from me. You can have your tears, but you did what you did, and you’re not just going to gaslight and manipulate me right now. Let’s talk about some of the things you said and some of the names you called people and we’ll go there if you want to.”.  Finally, we hear what Kathy said about her cast mates, at least according to Rinna.  Kathy thinks that Dorit is a useless idiot.  Kathy called Crystal and Sutton useless pieces of shit and doesn't know why they are even on the show.  Ouch!  Of course we all agree, but still, ouch!  Kathy also allegedly told Lisa that she has friends in high places at Bravo, and they are grooming HER to become the star of the show.  BTW, earlier in the episode, Cunt Foo Crystal said that she thinks Rinna is lying, something that I'm sure Andy will bring up at the reunion.  The irony is, Kathy just sat there not even denying any of the things that Lisa was saying.  Incidentally, they never did get to the nitty gritty of the matter, that is Kathy allegedly dropping N an F-bombs at the Carabou Club.  This makes me think that is guilty on all counts, but most likely succeeded in burying those unaired accusations by threatening Bravo with legal action.

The season 12 finale airs next week, and then it is expected that we will be treated to another FOUR part reunion.  Normallu, I'm not really into these reunions because the material is usually such ancient history and there isn't that much to reunionize about, but this one is going to be a doozy.
