Altitude Adjustment

It's the morning after Rinna's disco party inferno, and Kyle, Dorit, and Hermes (in Blue Electric Candy) are going on a dog walk.  Still wearing their disco hair,  Kyle reveals that after the party, they met up with the hubbies at the Polo Lounge where they continued to be overserved well into the wee hours.  Frankly, I'm surprised they allow the Richards sisters into the joint, but thankfully, no one locked themselves in the ladies bathroom and no BH police were kicked.  Over some In and Out Burger drive-thru, Kyle and Dorit discuss the disco party, but moreover, Lisa Rinna's bipolar-like behavior of late.  It seems she's either screaming at the top of her lungs, or crying, which is of course indicative of "the grieving process", so they decide to give her a break.   Kyle reveals that after her mom died, she was physically ill for two years!  I guess it remains to be seen if the fans can take another full season of Rinna's rage.

Kyle thinks that the women should reserve judgment and give Rinna some time, which is easy for her to say beause Sutton is the one bearing the brunt of Lisa's anger.  As you probably recall, Kyle said the same thing about Erika; that she’s finally loosening up, so they should let her just run rampant over everyone.   Even later on in Aspen, when Diana eviscerates Sutton (just for fun), Kyle’s says "Some might say Diana's being mean, but I respect her for being honest.”.  So basically, anyone can be as mean as they want to Sutton, and Kyle gives them a pass while still posing as a friend to Sutton.

Meanwhile, Diana goes over to Garcelle’s house to hang out and of course talk about Sutton. They have a nice time and a few laughs, which starts at the door when Diana arrives wearing a red jumpsuit backwards.  Diana says she's looking forward to the Aspen trip, because Aspen is her happy place; however she (and her entourage of eight) will be staying at a hotel rather than Kyle's, or the rental with the other girls.  She explains she needs to be able to control the energy of whatever space she’s in, adding that she even sends “ghostbusters” ahead to cleanse the space of any bad energy.  This chick is so relatable.

It's the morning of the Aspen trip, and the group meets on the runway where Mauricio has charted a private jet for the ladies.  He (and Storm) are tagging along on this trip which is never really explained.  All we get is Mauricio telling Kyle that he would never miss a trip to Aspen.  I assume he probably had some loose ends to tie up pertaining to the sale of their chalet.  Speaking of their chalet, it is charming, but $9 MILLION dollars for a 2800 sq. ft. 4 BR 4 BTH and rather dated cabin in the woods seems insane, especially after seeing the rental where the other ladies are staying.  The newly sold $30M rental was clearly given the preferential edit, showcasing the wine cellar, commercial sized elevator, and the enormous bedrooms.  By comparison. we see Kyle and Erika at Kyle's chalet struggling with a string of Christmas lights in the freezing cold, Kyle explaining to Kathy how the bunk beds on the “lower level” are actually the most comfortable in the house, and Moe schlepping groceries up the steps to the tiny kitchen.

The group gathers at Kyle's for a casual BBQ dinner prepared by Moe, which really makes no sense at all.  Why do the other seven ladies have to leave their ten thousand square foot palace with four chefs catering to their every need, have to trek across the woods (in single digit temps) to Kyle's cottage?  Just so Harry Hamlin doesn't show him up?  Apparently having seniority on the show pulls some weight, which brings me back to Moe being allowed to tag along.  There have been girl's trips completely ruined when a HW decides to bring their husband along.  See Exhibit A:  Aviva insisting that Reid accompany her on a girl's trip to St. Barts.  If you recall Mona and Sonja weren't having it, but Aviva Drescher pulled the "emotional support" card.

After dinner, Lisa Rinna pulls out a Ouija board that she supposedly found in her room, as if it wasn't in the script and placed there by production. Garcelle and a few of the other women want nothing to do with such demonic rituals, but of course Lisa Rinna is not one of those women.  Kyle gets the ball rolling by asking Ouija if everyone will get along and have fun on the trip, and predictably, the tirangular pointer (known as the planchette) slams to the word "No!". Sheree then asks if Garcelle is going to find her soul mate this year, but of course everyone just ignores any question that might lead them to rally around a member of this fractured group.  Instead,  Kyle asks, “Why did Garcelle unfollow Erika on Instagram?”.   In a talking head, Dorit  wonders if Kyle might be stirring the pot. Gee, ya think?   Apparently Dorit hasn't noticed that for the last two or three seasons, all Kyle does is stir the pot.

Garcelle says she unfollowed Erika because she called her a liar and she didn’t want to see her Instagram posts anymore.  Again with the "called me a liar" shtick.  Inferring that someone is not telling the truth does not equal "You're a liar!".  Incidentally, it's always been my experience that people who get so twitchy over being called a liar, are usually liars.  Meanwhile, everyone in the room says they’re not 14 and don’t want to fight about who’s following who. Erika and Garcelle rather matter-of-factly decide they don’t need to be friends, as if they ever were.

Kyle then turns to Sutton and says when she brought up the subject earlier on the plane, Sutton said it was a joke.  Sutton saying it is a joke is surely a sophmore mistake, and again Erika's use of the C word at the reunion comes up.  So now the conversation is all about Sutton, and Diana chimes in, calling Sutton “slithery”. So much for giving Sutton a second chance.  For me, Sutton is a lot of things, but I'm not sure slithery is one of them.   As the camera pans to Sutton, it is obvious that she is going to take a different approach for this round with Diana.  There will be no tit for tatts or even scathing looks of disgust; instead she just sits there silent with eyes welling up.  Kyle and Garcelle say that Sutton has feelings and not to talk to her like that, Diana says, “But does she?", and once again brings up how Sutton treated her at Garcelle’s party.

Of course Sutton HAS apologized, but that's beside the point.  The more we keep revisiting that scene at Garcelle's party, it is possible that more was said to Diana than what we saw, and in production's effort to give Sutton a good edit, they're making Diana look like a raving lunatic.  But regardless,  at some point you just have to stop apologizing for something.  Also, Diana needs to let it go, and if she can't then maybe she should take her dry lips back to her hotel "Room 23"?  Again, Sutton questions why no one had a problem with Erika calling her a cunt (as last year's reunion). “But you are one,” says Diana, which gets an obnoxious laugh from Erika and a half-assed scolding from the other ladies.  Silent tears then stream down Sutton's face .... and scene.
