Diana Jenkins:  The Real Truth

As soon as it was made official that Sanela "Diana" Jenkins was joining the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, many fans were outraged and took to Twitter to question Andy's casting choice.  But now the newbie  is setting the record straight.  This is the story of how a simple (unsubstantiated) post on a gossip site spread like wild fire.

According to a report making the rounds on the internet, the new housewife allegedly has a very dark past. Her connection to several celebrities like Cindy Crawford, George Clooney, The Kardashians, etc, has always been a point of intrigue to the public. So when an unsubstantiated blind item was posted on a celebrity gossip forum that accused her of running a high-profile sex ring, the story immediately grew legs and housewife fans lapped it up. With the announcement of her joining the cast, fans once again began digging into her past, and are far from pleased with what they discovered.

Today, Jenkins is enjoying the lavish life of a Hollywood diva, but as we saw in her introduction on episode 2, the 48-year-old endured a lot of hardships as a former refugee from Bosnia. Born Sanela Dijana Catic to middle-class Muslim parents in Bosnia, Sanela had a very happy childhood until the war broke out. After graduating from the University of Sarajevo with a degree in economics and social engineering, Sanela was looking forward to a bright career and future. But sadly, her world quickly turned upside down when war broke out between Serbia and Bosnia, which took many Bosnian lives.

Eventually, the 5'9" beauty escaped to London, and changed her name to Diana.  One day while working out at a gym, she met banker Roger Jenkins.  He became her best friend, and they married in 1999.  Shortly thereafter, Diana and her husband Roger made headlines when Diana used her connection with the wife of Sheik Hamad Al-Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, to secure the massive $7.3 billion dollar investment in Roger's (Barclays) bank.  They had two children together and then divorced in 2011. Diana moved to America and began getting involved in various philanthropic activities.

In 2006, Diana teamed up with celebrity photographer, Deborah Anderson, to put together a coffee table book filled with celebrity pictures titled "Room 23", which was an artistic exploration depicting a year in the life of a Beverly Hills penthouse suite featuring 100 celebrities. Proceeds from the book support human rights projects.

But here's where it all went to shit.  In 2012, apparently, someone took the provocative cover a bit too far and posted a blind item on the gossip site, Jezebel, basically accusing Diana of Heidi Fleiss-like activities, with accusations of human trafficking thrown in for good measure.  That story was then picked up by Crazy Days and Nights which claimed to reveal the "real truth" behind Diana's book, and then another blog, Oh No They Didn't, picked that one up, making it even "darker"  (Hmm, I wonder if this is where Crystal Cu*t Foo learned that word).  The comments section became so accusatory (and libelous), that the moderators locked it.

Now all these years later, Jenkins is addressing the rumors on her Instagram. “Please listen Dr Haris Silajdzic speak. Let’s put ridiculous madam rumors to rest once and for all . This is the first time i am speaking on this subject .  Fake news are powerful tool in hands of an enemy.”. She added: “I spent my adult life fighting for human rights and bringing war criminals to justice.".  The post includes a 4-minute video on her Instagram of Haris Silajdžić, a Bosnian politician who served as the third Prime Minister of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the video, Silajdžić explained that Jenkins served as his honorary advisor and sponsor of multiple projects designed to help those in need and especially children. He described her as a “successful businesswoman and philanthrope with a big heart.” Silajdžić explained that after the war in Bosnia, Jenkins was a key figure in helping bring international attention to some of Serbia’s actions toward Bosnians, after which, he said, she was the target of a character assassination campaign in the Serbian press.

“Serbia aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina brought devastation to so many families and my entire country . It brought so much misery to My family and Me . My brother lost his life defending democracy . “No different to what Russia and Putin are doing to Ukraine. In the name of all the victims My decision was to fight them in international courts With everything i had . We won .” Jenkins said she “[paid] the price with these fake rumors designed to assassinate my character and discredit me from world politics and speaking on Bosnia and Herzegovina behalf. Sadly for them It was in vain . Bosnia and Herzegovina is in my heart and my soul and I will always proudly represent.”.
