Keeping Up With Kelly Bensimon

Page Six’s Evan Real, recently caught up with the original Kelly (Bensimon). They reminisced her days working as an editor for Page Six, her 3 season stint on the Real Housewives of New York City, what she thought recent (disastrous) seasons were missing, and whether she would be interested in the upcoming “RHONY: Legacy” series.

At 53, Kelly is now the same age that Ramona Singer was when the show first aired in March of 2008, and like Singer, she is aging extraordinarily well. In fact, she doesn’t seemed to have aged at all. The similarities between Kelly and Ramona don’t end there. As fans know, Ramona is now working as real estate agent under Douglas Elliman, the same broker who has guided Kelly’s booming real estate career.

Reflecting on her old frenemies, Kelly had some interesting and somewhat surprising things to say. She feels that people had a misconception of she and Alex (McCord). Back in the day, Kelly described Alex (and Simon) as inauthentic and only acting for the cameras. “I would tell her to re-enter. I would tell her to do all those things again because that’s what friends do,” Bensimon says. “I protected Alex and I would do it again … yeah I wouldn’t mind reuniting with Alex McCord on the next installment of the Real Housewives of New York City.”.

Of course, Bethenny Frankel’s name came up as well. When asked about her old castmate’s shady reaction to Andy Cohen’s big news, Bensimon said that she thinks Bethenny has ascended beyond the real housewives. “Look at all the great things she’s doing with Ukraine,” she says of Bethenny, whose nonprofit focuses on disaster relief. “I think she’s kind of graduated out of reality TV and I really don’t think it’s her thing anymore. I don’t know if it’s a personal front against the franchise. I think it’s just where she is in her life.”. However, if Frankel, 51, ever changes her mind, Kelly says that she would gladly welcome a reunion with the Skinnygirl CEO.  “Yeah, let’s hang out!” she says. “I want to meet her daughter. I want to hang out and paint fingernails and have a popcorn party and do all sorts of fun stuff.”.

But whether Bensimon is ever asked back or not, her ultimate wish is that RHONY focuses more on all the great things that New York City and the Hamptons has to offer. “That’s really what I would be pushing for, is for you to see more of this great city as well as the Hamptons,” she says. “We can scream and argue about whatever it is, but I want people to see New York City, which really still is the best of the best.”.
