It looks like The Real the long-running daytime talk show, better known as the all around ripoff of The View and The Talk is (finally) set to be canceled, leaving Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Garcelle Beauvais out of a job. Somehow this shit show has lasted 8 seasons, after having gone through several changes to the host lineup. The original cast included Adrienne, Loni, Jeannie, Tamera Mowry, and Toni Braxton’s little sister. The show launched in 2013 and Tamar was out by 2016. Braxton would later accuse Love of working behind the scenes to get her fired. She accused the comedian of writing a letter to the network asking for Braxton to be removed as co-host. Braxton reignited the feud with Loni in 2019 when she publicly told her ex-coworker to "cut the BS.".
Tamar was then replaced in 2020 with "comedian"? Amanda Seales but she left in less than a year claiming she was unable to talk about real issues on the show and lack of minority execs at one of the production companies behind the show, Telepictures.
So the show then hired Garcelle, who brought the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills viewers over, and who has been a host ever since. The cancelation is the latest "black" talk show to get the ax, so now eyebrows are being raised that because Nick Cannon (Mariah Carey’s ex) and Wendy Williams shows are canceled, there may be a “white washing” going on. To add fuel to the fire, only The Drew Barrymore Show and Kelly Clarkson Show have been considered "successful" and are both up for renewal. Forget that Jerry Springer’s judge show (which is all about black people trying to destroy each other) is also being canceled, and the last time I checked, Sherri Shepherd (who is replacing Wendy Williams) is black.
I can already see the little blurb on the finale of RHOBH’s upcoming season, where they add those little captions of what happened with the cast members since filming ended … “Garcelle has moved on from The Real to pursue her many acting and producing projects”. Sure, whatevs.
