Pat The Puss:  Then and Now

The troubled Girardis have slashed the price of their Pasadena, CA mansion from $13M to $11.5M.  The 4-bedroom, 9-bathroom, 10,277 sq. ft. 2+ acre estate has been on the market for just 5 weeks, and a price cut like this really illustrates what dire financial straights the estranged couple is in. The home is being sold off by the trustee presiding over Girardi's involuntary bankruptcy. The once-respected lawyer was forced into Chapter 7 after his creditors accused him of refusing to pay tens of millions in debt he owed to various lenders, business partners and former clients.

As soon as Tom Girardi's financial problems started piling up, Erika suddenly (and inexplicably at the time) filed for divorce, leaving many to question the timing.  Legal eagles are alleging that the divorce is a scheme to funnel money and assets.  Perhaps to throw their creditors off the scent, the pop/reality star is demanding the famed lawyer pay her spousal support; however, Girardi is claiming to be flat broke.

Many people involved believe Girardi had been transferring millions of dollars to Jayne when he knew he was unable to pay his debts. His former clients are accusing him of diverting money that they won in settlements to pay the bills associated with his lavish lifestyle.

Now Mrs. Girardi (a.k.a. Erika Jayne) is being accused of being directly involved in helping her husband embezzle the money. In court documents, one lender says Jayne received over $20 million from Girardi and spent it on expensive jewelry and glam.

The trustee recently hired a lawyer named Ronald Richards to investigate Jayne. He had requested she return items he believes are property of the estate but she refused to comply. She claims all property in her possession were "gifts" from Girardi and she is not required by the law to return them. A judge has yet to rule.
