If the season 11 trailer for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is any indication, new season’ s main focus is going to be on Erika Girardi, a.k.a Erika Jayne.
As everyone knows by now, in 2020, Erika’s husband, famed lawyer Tom Girardi, 81, started making headlines when it was reported that the Girardo & Keese Law Firm has been sued more than one hundred times, and multiple complaints had been filed against him with the California State Bar, yet his bar license had remained pristine due to alleged improper relationships between Girardi and Bar officials. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Girardi is known for his work in Democratic Party politics as well, donating millions of dollars to campaigns, playing a role in fundraising events, and giving advice to governors in regard to judicial appointments.
On Nov 3, 2020, Erika Girardi filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. In her filing, Erika requested spousal support from Tom, and he asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to Erika. By December, a federal judge in Chicago froze Girardi's assets, citing that he had misappropriated at least $2 million in client funds that were due to the families of those killed in the Boeing 737 MAX Lion Air Flight 610 crash in Indonesia.
Many of the Bar complaints involved alleged financial malfeasance, including allegations of theft by two dozen women who won $17 million in a lawsuit claiming that hormone replacement therapy caused their cancer along with the alleged misappropriation of millions of dollars in a burn victim lawsuit. On March 9, 2021 the State Bar of California revoked Girardi's license to practice law.
In the trailer, we see newly promoted housewife Sutton Stracke, experiencing Erika’s wrath after evidently accusing her of multiple things. “That is when Erika’s anger comes out,” an insider explained to Us Weekly. The source adds that the It’s Expensive To Be Me singer got super emotional throughout season 11 after her co-stars kept accusing her of certain things, and she had to keep defending herself. "From day one, Erika was, like, ‘I will tell my story, but you have to let me tell you myself.’, but then all the news kept coming out about Tom’ legal issues, which led to the girls wanting answers,” the source says.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills returns to Bravo Wednesday, May 19, at 8 p.m. ET.
