Bethenny Frankel Would Return To RHONY Under Certain Conditions

As some may recall, a few months ago, after Bethenny Frankel and Andy Cohen were spotted together in the Hamptons, rumors began to swirl that she was in negotiations for a second return to the Real Housewives of NYC.  But she took to social media and shot them down writing, “Andy and I are friends, and we don't even talk about RHONY.  I don’t want to go back on Housewives. It’s not where I am right now. I respect that I came from there, but I’m moving forward.”.  She also claimed that she hadn't even been watching the show.  Ya sure.

But that was then. Just last week, Bethenny addressed the subject again. On her Just B podcast, Bethenny recently spoke about a possible return to the Real Housewives of New York City.  While talking about the recent controversial season of RHONY, she said , “Give me real and authentic, an authentic series.  If there could there be some element of authenticity that I could cling onto, and not feel like I’m gonna go shoot for four months and make a f**kton of money.” But wait, I thought she didn't watch the show.

As for money, Bethenny made it clear that she thinks the cast deserves their salaries because the franchise is a “battlefield.” Especially because she thinks the cast is being slammed by the press. Which they are.

Bethenny added that she misses the humor that took place on earlier seasons of RHONY.  Again, if she doesn't watch the show, how does she know it lacks humor?  Said Bethenny, “Even right now, it’s a different type of outlook, it’s a different type of humor that I miss. It’s running commentary. You can be judgmental. Humor always wins with the exception of saying something inappropriate or racist or off-color or something politically incorrect. Correct humor wins.”

She continued, “You end up having enemies that you never knew you had. You have cross-franchise enemies because of things you’re commenting on. This is a challenging workplace thing.”

Bethenny went on, “I’ve had people that I used to be friends with air something about me on Watch What Happens Live. I’m reading it for the first time in print. It happened recently twice. That’s the name of this game. You get into it. If you have a friend who’s also in this league, it’s going to be challenging . . . Find me somebody who’s gone the distance.”

Bethenny then referenced all the relationships that crumbled on other franchises. She noted, “Teresa is enemies with Danielle, then she became a friend of Danielle. Teresa was good friends with Dina, and that broke up. Best friends of Caroline Manzo that broke up. NeNe came in with Kim Zolciak, and that broke up. I came in with Jill that broke up. I became friends with Carole that broke up. Carole’s best friends with Tinsley and that broke up ...so let’s just not disguise it as women supporting women.”

Bethenny then addressed some of her other projects, saying that they just really weren’t right for her.  She admitted, “I didn’t like to do a talk show. I don’t like to do a lot of formatting, a lot of formatted shows. And it’s not the women not supporting women because, frankly, it’s every woman for themselves on those shows. And when people leave the shows, they’re not friends with each other anymore. You have to have allies.”.

I'd love to see Bethenny back on RHONY, and it appears that now would be the time to renegotiate, because she doesn't need them; they need her.  I believe that she absolutely does talk to Andy about the show, but this time around, it's undoubtedly all about creative control.
