RHONY Reboot Plus A New Spinoff Are In The Works

Bravo annouced, well sort of, that it is rebooting The Real Housewives of New York City and likely recasting the series from scratch in addition to launching a second show that will feature the RHONY alums, presumably, Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, and Sonja Morgan.

HBIC, Andy Cohen, spoke with Variety on Wednesday, about the new  approach supposedly taking into account everything that the passionate audience has really been telling them over the last year.   As fans know, RHONY experienced a serious drop in the ratings (which Andy denied at the time), even canceling the season 13  reunion.  “You know that we’re at a crossroads and we’ve spent a lot of time figuring out where to go. And the plan that we’ve come up with, I think, is a real gift to the fans.”, Andy told Variety.  But for now, Bravo is focusing on casting the RHONY reboot.

Cohen clarified that the network is prioritizing the reboot, which is being developed and produced for Bravo, which thankfully, mean, no Peacock. I've always gotten the sense that Andy knows that the streaming was a huge mistake, but of course the spineless wuss would never say it.

“There are thousands of stories to tell here,” he continued with all the usual liberal buzz words. “This is the most multicultural, diverse and energetic and exciting city in America. We are searching for a multicultural group of friends who really best reflect the most exciting city in the country (not anymore bitch). We’re looking for a group of women who are real friends and who are of diverse backgrounds, races and religions.”.  Uh huh.

Cohen went on to say that the network is looking for a “multicultural group of friends.”, emphasizing that the team is still looking for new “housewives” and realy want to get it right.  So suffice to saty,  we will not be seeing a Season 14 trailer or cast announcement anytime soon.

As for “RHONY: Throwback” or “RHONY: Legacy,” which are the working titles Cohen used, Bravo has not even begun casting, although Cohen admitted he knows who he wants back (*cough Bethenny *cough).
